And the Winner is....

Last night we went to my Scholarship Reception for the scholarship that I won from the Langley Officer's Spouses Association. It was really nice little gig they had for us all. There were 3 spouses and 5 high school kids who were recipients of their scholarship. They had little appetizers and cake and punch (poor J was starving) and then presented us with a certificate....I was very impressed! Praise God for this huge blessing. I have 3 scholarships that I am waiting to hear back from, one will be announced at the end of this week (although I do not think I won) and then the other two will be announced in June and July.
Tonight J has a softball game, I will try to remember to take the camera with us, if I make it home before the game!

Classmate Update

I just wanted to post a quick update on my friend in class. I will keep this short and not so graphic. My friend stayed back for lunch today because she had a doctors appointment for a different medical reason other than possible being pregnant. So she was telling me how her doctors appointment went and then proceeded to tell me that she had miscarried the baby yesterday morning. I knew something was up yesterday because she was awfully quiet and did not say much at all and blamed her "weird" attitude to her 7 month old being up all night. Although I have never experienced a miscarriage but do know people who have and how devastating the time is, it was a bit of a blessing (if you can call it that.)
But please do continue to keep her in your prayers, as well as myself, in that I may be His light to these girls I hang out with.

Happy Memorial Day!

May we not forget our fallen heroes and their families as well our soldiers who are currently still fighting for us.

Choose Life

What a day yesterday....very challenging spiritually for me. To make the long story short, the girl that sits next to me is 18 and has a 6 month baby already. She still lives at home and has never worked a day in her life. I consider us "close" because the people I sit next too in class talk all day and hang out. Anyway, she now believes she is pregnant again although I am unsure if she has "officially" confirmed it with a pregnancy test. But is wanting to get an abortion. I was like WHOA when she said this and immediately started praying for her, for the baby, and for me to have the words and a listening spirit of what to say to her. From the little things that she has said, I gathered her to believe that she needed to get an abortion before it is too far along and becomes something....to me that meant, she believes the baby is not anything from the time it is conceived. Her mom wanted her to get an abortion with the first one, so she says she knows she will definitely want her to get one this time. Mom does not know yet about it.
So please pray for her and for me as well, that I be His light to her and especially to this baby or just pray that she is not pregnant (as horrible as that may sound.) But there are so many women who can not even get pregnant yet other girls go around like it is nothing and abort babies right and left. (Sorry for my soapbox there!)
I will keep you posted on this.

Mr. Flounder

This news is a few days old now....but I still wanted to share it. I am late posting this because we went to GA this past weekend for a surprise birthday for Chris. He turns the BIG 30 tomorrow, and his girlfriend, Erin threw him a surprise birthday party. It was great to see the fam and catch up with up some of my buddies. Pics to come once I get them from everyone.
So the news is that Jason informed me that he has changed his name...to Mr. Flounder. J has been "hitting" the fish the past few times he went out. He went to a meeting with a bunch of kayakers and then went fishing after the meeting and was catching alot of fish. And then went out again on Thursday and caught more. He only kept a few this time, but plans on getting more and having a fish fry with some guys from work. So he was totally excited about it. Check out our website for up close pics of the fishies!

HAPPY 30TH BIRTHDAY!

Happy Birthday Chris! WOW...the Big 30!!
We hope you have a wonderful day and we are glad were able to be in on the surprise for you this past weekend! May HE continue to bless you this next year and the years to come as you continue to seek HIM in all you do!
Lots of Love and Hugs!

PS...I will post a better pic once I get them all!

"New" Camera

J got a "new" camera that he can take fishing with him...so keep a lookout on our website for pics of fishies he catches! He is gone fishing now, because I have LOTS of studying to do...so hopefully there will be some pics up tonight or tomorrow when he gets back. These two posted here are us playing around with the camera and taking pics of each other.
It was a busy week for us both between school and work and J had softball games and a golf tournament. He said he played great during the tournament but unfortunately his teammates did not do so hot, so they did not place, but at least they had fun! J is playing softball for our church and started last week playing for his squadron. So this coming week will be a whole lotta softball playing going on. And I am studying up now in that I can make it to the games.
Tomorrow we are headed to Busch Gardens, yes, we officially season pass owners. They are having Glory at the Gardens. It actually started last Sunday and is going on through next Sunday. Each Sunday they have Christan artist there performing. So our life group will be up there riding the rides and going to the concert. Tomorrow, Natalie Grant, Mark Schultz, and Big Daddy Weave will be there. So we are praying for no rain in that we can go. So we shall see!!

Oh yeah, I got my hair cut even shorter than in the pic above...pics to come in a day or so (I got the studying hair do going on right now!)

Shout Out

I wanted to take a quick moment out of studying to give a shout out to my homie, Jason!! Yes, we call each other homie or bud...because we are forever buds!! But J has made it so easy to get into the swing of school again. I have no worries of housework or cooking or any of that sort to come home to each day. Dinner is either started or ready to eat when I get home from school and work and the dishes are done along with the laundry going. I feel like a slacker not pulling my load around the house during the week since school started....but Praise God for the awesome husband he has blessed me with who is picking up my load for me. So I just wanted to send props to my homie for helping me out and be worry free about the house stuff because he has already done it. THANKS J!! Love ya!

And I was typing this, I am so quickly reminded of how many times our Heavenly Father picks up our slacking ends of things or picks up our sins and washes it clean. Thank you God for your never-ending grace and mercy for our sins!

New Pics

Well, I have got 2 weeks under the ol belt of school life again! I have had 2 tests this past week and 3 coming up this week....so I am glad we are starting off a bit slow in that I can get back in the swing of studying, time management and all that fun stuff that comes with school. But just in the 2 weeks I have come to realize that not only do I need to be in constant prayer about my school work but most especially for my classmates. Just like with any setting of people, they all come from different backgrounds and have different outlooks on life and just to put it bluntly....they need some Jesus!! Just the cluster of 8 classmates that sit immediately around me (which means we talk and study ALOT together) I am not so sure about their walk with their Lord if there is even one. Which makes me think about as to if they see the Lord through me (in my actions, words, attitude, etc.?) Lord, may I be your Light to these people and may I place them in your hands and place my action, words and attitude in your hands! Does this mean I should be perfect, like Christ is? Of course not, but I should be striving everyday to be perfect as he is...to be an M5:48 (check out Matthew 5:48)
Anyhooo...sorry about the short "sermon to myself!"
J is finally back to a "normal" shift and unfortunately at home way before me. But of course has been an awesome husband and had dinner cooked or cooking by the time I get home. I just feel bad because when I get home, I eat some grub then hit the books - so he has had some lonely evenings. He also had a softball game on Thursday in which I was unable to go cheer him on because I had a test on Friday. But after feeling horrible about missing the game, I plan on studying in advance especially the nights he has games, in that all I have to do is a quick review the night before the test.
The weather here has been gorgeous and J has been able to get some fishing in this week. He bought a cheap digital camera and can now take pics of the fishies he catches. He was out yesterday after work and did not catch anything but snapped a few pics of the sunset. So check them out on our website and look under the kayak album. He is about to leave shortly to go fishing, so hopefully he will catch some and have a few pics up of them.
Well, I will cut this here, as it is getting long and probably boring.
