A Stroll at the Park

Yesterday we went to the Newport News Park that is near our house and walked the paved trails that went by all the campsites and the water. Kerrick has so far proven that he loves the outdoors....anytime you take him outside he is calm (not that he is not already calm,) and he just talks and looks at everything! We have been trying to go walking every evening with him and then J wanted to go to the park this weekend to walk him around. Kerrick of course loved it!! He did fall asleep in his carrier towards the end! Sorry this is not the best pic as Kerrick's eyes were closed and J was looking away, but it was the best shot out of the couple that I did take!!
Kerrick has been doing ok at eating for his first week - still a work in progress...he has had carrots, peas and sweet potatoes for lunch and dinner and then for breakfast he eats his cereal with applesauce but we will try bananas this week.
We hope you all had a wonderful weekend?!!

First Foods!!

We starting feeding Kerrick some good ol pureed food this week. He was not quite sure how to swallow it because he kept spitting it back out with his tongue. Kim got him to get to swallowing the food and now he seems to have got the hang of it. We started him with carrots and then I gave him some cereal and apples this morning for breakfast. So we are slowly introducing them to make sure he is not allergic to anything. This morning it was funny because he opens his mouth for the food and pulls his head off the back of his high chair! I will post some pics tonight that are from Sunday when we first tried to feed him - so we thankfully stripped him down before we fed him in hopes of his clothes not getting stained orange!! But for now, we have learned we can not wait until he is really hungry to try to feed him food as he will not eat it, when he gets hungry there is no stopping him and he will pitch a fit until a bottle is put in.
On another Kerrick note....Jason took him to get his 4 months shots yesterday:( J said he did great but got a little fussy in the evening. But once we went on our walk he was fine and he played in his stationary entertainment toy thing while we lifted weights. Jason was dinged and had to get a shot too....so the boys had a fun filled day at the immunization clinic:)

4 Month Stats!

Kerrick went to his 4 month well child appointment today! He did not get his shots due to having to wait until after the 17th...which was my fault. I though they went by weeks for his age in which he is 16 weeks and 4 days but they go by the 17th of each month would be a month older each time since he was born on 17 January. So Jason will take him next week for his shots:(
But he did great as usual at the doctor and just talked away to her! I did not go into work until after his appointment so before it we stopped by work to show him off and he had all the ladies around him and he of course loved all the attention.
Here are his 4month old stats...

Weight - 14 pounds 10 ounces (85th percentile)
Height - 24.5 inches (76th percentile)
Head Circumference - 87th percentile

But he is a healthy big boy!!
These are the pics from after his appointment today.
Also go to youtube.com and type in thejosywells and there are a few videos of Jason's fishing trip and 2 of Kerrick (one was from today - Jason was home all afternoon with him today!) Too Funny!!

4 Months Old!!

Kerrick is already 4 months old today!! He goes on Thursday for his well child check - so we are anxious to see how much he has grown. He is doing new things almost everyday. He is getting really good at grabbing things and of course it all goes straight to his mouth. And he loves to talk and is starting to laugh more and more. He was sleeping through the night as I said in a previous post but he has since quit that - but I am curious as to if it was because Jason was out of town. Yes I know it sounds crazy, but I know he knows something was going on....so we shall see tonight and tomorrow night if he goes back to sleeping through the night.
Jason had a wonderful trip to the NC coast and it was a very successful trip. We do not have any pictures to post but there are a few on his facebook page and he is getting some videos uploaded so I will let you know when that is posted but for now here is one of Kerrick!
Here are a couple from today too....the plate is one Kerrick made for me at Kim's. We went to the Yorktown beach for a little stroll and ice cream this evening - so the pic of J and K is there.

First Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to our moms!! Now I truly know the meaning of this special day set aside for our wonderful mom's in that we can celebrate just you on this day and all you have done for us kids and now grandkids!!
Here is a poem I found that truly depicts my feelings of motherhood now....
Before I was a Mom
Before I was a Mom -
I slept as late as I wanted and never worried about how late I got into bed. I brushed my hair and my teeth everyday.
Before I was a Mom -
I cleaned my house each day. I never tripped over toys or forgot words to a lullaby. I didn't worry whether or not my plants were poisonous. I never thought about immunizations.
Before I was a Mom -
I had never been puked on - Pooped on - Spit on - Chewed on, or Peed on. I had complete control of my mind and My thoughts. I slept all night.
Before I was a Mom -
I never held down a screaming child so that doctors could do tests...or give shots. I never looked into teary eyes and cried. I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin. I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep.
Before I was a Mom -
I never held a sleeping baby just because I didn't want to put it down. I never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I couldn't stop the hurt. I never knew that something so small could affect my life
so much. I never knew that I could love someone so much. I never knew I would love being a Mom.
Before I was a Mom -
I didn't know the feeling of having my heart outside my body. I didn't know how special it could feel to feed a hungry baby. I didn't know that bond between a mother and her child. I didn't know that something so small could make me feel so important.
Before I was a Mom -
I had never gotten up in the middle of the night every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay. I had never known The warmth, The joy, The love, The heartache, The wonderment or the satisfaction of being a Mom. I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much before I was a Mom.

We love you Mom's and truly are blessed to have you as our moms!!

2 nights in a row

Kerrick has been sleeping all through the night the past 2 nights and we have had to wake him up in the morning to get ready for Mrs. Kim's. We are trying to move his bedtime up slowly in that he will wake up on his own in the morning. I have not been sleeping through the night as I am waking up to check on him as he has not slept through the night before :)
He truly is a happy baby and he wakes up laughing and smiling every morning - no better way to start a day than with our little man smiling at us!!

15 Weeks Old!!!

I know I say this every post....but gosh how time truly flies when you are having fun! I can not believe Kerrick is already 15 weeks old today!! It is amazing how much he changes and all the new things he does every single day. He is getting better at sitting up and is almost a master at holding his head up. In the past 2 weeks his hand/arm coordination has come around and he is grabbing more things. He loves to watch his hands come together and then of course puts him in his mouth! And he is starting to giggle a little...especially when you give his kisses on his neck! But I do believe we have a talker on our hands - he LOVES to talk and talks loud at that! TOO FUNNY!!
Here are a few pics from this past week....watching tv, holding his head up high and holding his toys!!
In other news....a huge Praise report for Nonna, Jason's grandma. She was recently diagnosed with a paraesophageal hernia and had surgery this past Monday in California. She is doing awesome and her recovery sounds to be going smoothly. Praise God for leading her to this surgeon and for the speedy recovery she has had thus far. But please continue to keep her in your prayers during her recovery and traveling mercies for Poppa and he is going back and forth between Texas and California and for them both when they drive back to Texas in a few weeks!
