First Day of School

Kerrick started daycare yesterday for the first time. He only went half a day as I was nervous to start him full time. Thankfully Jason only has had to work one day this week and two days next week so we are able to "ease" Kerrick into daycare. Oh how I miss Kim but thankfully he did great. We think he started his cold symptoms a day before starting so of course on his first day he woke up at 0845 in which he normally wakes up at 0700. J got him ready and took him up there at about 1000 and picked him up around 2:30 and said he did great. He went straight to playing when he got there but only took like a 40 minute nap all day, so he was pooped when he got home and took a 2 hour nap. He went back today for a little bit longer day and did great too. We know the boy can eat but I think that is all he did all day today....breakfast taco for breakfast (mind you Jason just fed him breakfast before he went) then for lunch he had chicken nuggets, pasta and fruit, then at snack time he had pretzels, goldfish, smores, and peaches. I am thinking he may have not ate all of that, but then again who knows - he loves to eat! One of his new buddies is having his 1st birthday party next week during snack time - so we will be shopping for a birthday present for one of his new friends - too funny!!

On the Road to Recovery

My dad was able to come home yesterday morning and is on the road to recovery. He is doing well on his pain medications and actually did not take any today during the day. He is getting out of the bed some yet a little fearful of the pain hitting again and rightfully so.... He is still in a bit of pain but thankfully will start PT on Tuesday. So please continue to keep him and my mom in his prayers as he is on the road to recover - Praise the Lord!!

Another Update

I spoke to my mom this morning who said that Dad's doctor and neurosurgeon came in this morning. They stated that L3,4,5 are bulging but L4 and L5 are the worst. He is currently getting pain meds through his IV, so they are going to try to transition him to oral medications and he is starting physical therapy today. They are going to try physical therapy first and see what kind of progress he makes and use surgery as the last option. He should be in the hospital 1 -2 more days so they can see if the oral medication will help with his pain vs intravenously. So please keep praying for him and that he has a quick recovery!!

Visit with cousins

Yesterday, Brad, Kelly, Katelyn and Kara came out to spend the afternoon with us. It was a nice relaxing afternoon and the kiddos had fun playing with each other. I think Kerrick was excited to have them here to play with for the afternoon....he was one tired lil man after they left! Here are a few pics from yesterday!

Update on DadB

I spoke with my mom this morning about Dad....the doctor came in this morning in hopes of putting him on the MRI list for this morning, but unfortunately he will be the first after dinner tonight to get an MRI. If you are an inpatient, you are last priority over the ER and walk-ins during the day for any radiology test - which makes no sense, but that is how the hospital I worked for was in VA too. Craziness! But thankfully the pain medication is helping relieve some of the pain - so hopefully he can get some rest today?! We will keep you posted on the happenings!

Prayer Request

Please see a prayer for my dad as he is being admitted to the hospital tonight. Yesterday he was out trying to split some wood and bent down to pick up the chainsaw and threw his back out. So Mom had been feeding him some back pain relievers and he would not go to the ER. Today I think he finally agreed to go but my mom and Chris could not get him to the car due to the overwhelming pain so they called 911 to come get him and take him to the ER. So after a normal Xray, they think he may have blown a disc and will get an MRI in the morning. They are thinking that maybe some fragments of the disc are hitting on his nerve causing this pain. They said he said it is the worst pain he has ever had and he has had chronic back pain on and off for years.
So please say a prayer for him that the pain would ease, give the doctors wisdom, give him a good/polite medical crew (as Chris said they have not been very good thus far,) be with my family back home, and give them wisdom in making medical decisions.

A Visit with Santa

J was off today so we all 3 got to hang out one last long weekend. We ran a few errands, then went to the mall to build-a-bear/monkey for Kerrick and then went to see Santa. I sat him in Santa's lap and he did not mind at first until he saw Jason and I were not near him and some strange guy with a big ol beard was holding him then he started crying....but we did get a pic out of the deal. Afterwards we ran a few more errands then all went to a fancy, very nice restaurant - Chama Gaucha - a brazlian steakhouse. There was one in Richmond that was called Texas DeBrazil and was very similar and we kept saying we were going to and never got to go. But if you are ever in a city where they have these restaurants - it is a must for a special occasion!!

First Steps

Kerrick is walking....sort of!! He is getting brave and letting go of us or the furniture and taking a few steps on his own. Gramm's, my mom, was here this past weekend and he took his first three steps Friday night. Then on Sunday, Big Daddy and Gimma, Jason's parents, came to visit and he took a few more steps. Then Monday before we left to take Gramm's to the airport he took like 5 steps across the living room. Unfortuantely, we do not have video nor a picture as proof because Kerrick will not do it again once we have all the cameras out...but hopefully we can get some proof soon!

Gramm's Visit

Gramm's came to visit for a long weekend this past weekend. We had a lot of fun hanging out. We went shopping Friday afternoon, a birthday party and more shopping on Saturday and hung out on Sunday.
The visit of course went super fast but we are anxious for her along with Teddy, Uncle Chris and Angela and Nanny to come back in January for the BIG day - Kerrick turning 1!

Kerrick loves to hear the front door open to only see his Daddy walking through....he speed crawls to him only to be picked up and tickled by daddy! Here is a pic from last night after J got in, got settled and was on the telephone.

First Glimpse

We put up our Christmas tree Sunday while Kerrick was napping and his expression was too funny when he first saw it. He started a few weeks ago laying his head down on a blanket for a few seconds (you know he can not sit still for one minute) when he is getting tired. So with the tree up he has been laying under the tree on the tree skirt - too cute!! I will try to get a picture of him doing this next time he does it. But for now, here are a few pictures of Kerrick getting up close to the tree for the first time.

Poop 'N' Play

Here are some pictures of Kerrick over the weekend. His new place he loves to play is under our high top table in our breakfast area. He loves crawling over the support pieces. And this is where he now goes when he poops....guess when potty training starts we will know where to find him!! Too Funny!

Goin to catch some fishies!!

Jason got his new kayak yesterday, so Kerrick had to try it out last night to make sure it was fit for his daddy to go fishing in. Kerrick gave it an A+ so Jason and Brad headed out this afternoon for the coast to try to get some fishies. They will be back on Saturday with hopefully some good fishing stories and videos!! So hopefully we will be posting some videos soon!!

Today is Kerrick's 10 month birthday....where has the time gone. He is 23 pounds and 28.5 inches long (as of yesterday at the doctor!) Here are a few things he loves to do....listen to music, throw things, growl at you, walk along the furniture, loves to be outside, swinging, going for walks, and I am sure way more that I can not think of off the top of my head. he now has 2 teeth on the bottom, one on the top and one more on its way on the top.

Here are a few pics of Kerrick on Halloween....we did not get a costume for him, but he had plenty of outfit changes throughout the day!! We put Kerrick in the basket and drove him around - so that is why there are pics of him sitting in the little basket - he thought it was the funniest thing!
