3 months old

Well it only took me almost a week to get this up...
Caelum turned 3 months old last week. He was weighing in at a whopping 12.7 pounds. He seems to be changing daily. He is doing great with school and the adjustment. This past Friday and Saturday night he slept all night but then Sunday night and last night he only woke up one time. But of course when he sleeps all night, Kerrick wakes up at least one time (not sure why this is happening as it has been for about a week or so now??) But I will take one wakening during the night versus several. And then when you see his smile, it makes you forget about the sleepless nights. But I think school is wearing Caelum out a bit, as he sleeps as soon as he gets home - I guess he is afraid of missing something while at school and does not nap too long. But they said he is doing well and is a happy camper. Thankfully he does not cry as much as he did the first few weeks of his life. But he loves to talk and is starting to laugh too, and loves to smile!!

Happy Anniversary!!

This past Wednesday, my parents celebrated their wedding anniversary....Happy Belated Anniversary Dad and Mom!!

"It is hard to remember a time when you weren't there for me, just as you are for each other to this day!" You two are the best example of true love to Jason and I!

And Unfortunately, Dad is either behind the camera himself or with a kid, that I do not have a picture of Dad and Mom together :(

End of Maternity Leave :(

Well today is my last day of maternity leave and is defintely bittersweet. Oh how I would love to stay home all the time, but I must get back to my other calling - nursing! I am excited to get back to work but sad to leave the boys. Thankfully Kerrick loves to go to school and Caelum did well on his first 2 days this week. Although I do know it is all new to Caelum and he did not take very long naps at school (although that is not even unusual for him at home,) so he has been falling asleep on the way home. I think it has been an easy transition with Caelum going to school as it was with leaving Kerrick for the first time with Mrs. Kim in Virginia, because I know them(the teachers at their school) all now and totally trust them all. I did not intentionally plan it this way, but will be nice to start work tomorrow as I have to work 2 days this week and then have a long weekend and a short week next week - good way to ease back into it all - especially since there are a lot of changes that have taken place since I left. I was able to visit about every 2 weeks at work, so I have been kept somewhat in the loop of it all - but we shall see how it all goes!!

Update on Caelum

This is a picture of Caelum showing how it is hard work waiting on the doctor!!

Today Caelum had his 3 month follow-up appointment with the Urologist. We first went for his ultrasound of his kidneys and thankfully they did not do the VCUG (the invasive test) just the renal ultrasound. Then we went upstairs to see the Urologist. Caelum weighed in at 12.7 pounds (with his clothes on.) He is getting big oh so fast...but I sure hope so, as the boy loves to eat!
After the doctor reviewed his first Ultrasounds and VCUG from when he was 48 hours he discovered that his right kidney was still dilated some but no change since his first Ultrasound. They grade the reflux and on the first US he had a 1 out 4 and is still a 1 out of 4. However, his left kidney has dilated more and was at first a 1 out of 4 but is now a 3 out of 4. The doctor seemed a bit perplexed as to why it is happening because of the VCUG results on his first test versus his Ultrasound test today. I can explain it better with a picture - so sorry if this is not making sense??
He is thinking it could either be reflux or an obstruction on his left kidney. Caelum will continue his antibiotics as a prophylactic measure and we will go back in 3 months for Ultrasounds to see if it has corrected on its on. He said he is pretty sure the right kidney reflux will correct on its own, but we will have to see what the left kidney will do. If at the next appointment things have not changed or become worst then he will order a renal scan to see if there is an obstruction and then we will go from there.

Kerrick's 2nd Dental Appointment

I took Kerrick this morning for his 2nd ever dental appointment. He was very good waiting all the way up until the dentist came and sat down to look at his teeth. And from that point on he screamed but thankfully did not bite her. He laid in the chair like a Big Boy but screamed and cried the whole time.
But he got a good report and said all we are waiting on is his 2 year old molars. She said his chipped teeth are ok, that he did not break the enamel when they were hit and all should be well.
So afterwards we went to good ol Chick-Fil-A and had lunch (of course after waiting 30 minutes after his fluoride treatment) and Kerrick got to play a bit. Then we came home and now waiting on him to wake up so we can go get Caelum and see how the rest of his 1st day of Day Car went.
Sorry, the dental appointment was done in like 2 minutes, so I did not get any pictures again :(

Caelum's First Day of DayCare

Well I just dropped off both boys at DayCare...today was Caelum's first day. He woke up only 2 times during the night and unfortunately the second time was at 0400 and I am to get up at 0430 to start the day. Jason and I are switching off during the night so he got the 0400 feeding. So all went smoothly on our "dry run" of a work day. I do not actually start work until Thursday, but we all have appointments everday until then, so we are "practicing" like it is a work day.
These are a few pictures from this morning on Caelums' first day of Day Care :( Kerrick was not wanting to leave his puppy, blanket, nor pacifier out of the pictures. I will be taking Kerrick to his 2nd dentist appointment later this morning in which I am sure the Dentist is going to be getting on to me about the whole pacifier thing....we can only blame ourselves that he has had it this long and have not broke him of it already. So I am sure we will have a sleepless weekend really soon, once we take it away from him.

Random Pictures from the past few weeks....

Caelum trying out his bumbo seat for the first time!
Kerrick knocking off the dust of the bumbo seat before Caelum gets his first turn in it.
The Candy Cake I made for Kerrick's teachers for Valentines...I made 3 of them for all of Kerricks and Caelums teachers.
Kerrick "Marching" like the Fresh Beat Band does. He put on the bucket and started saying March, March! Too Funny!
Our Cute Lil Man!
Kerrick in his big boy undies for the first time. He is not interested in potty training yet, but for a couple of days he wanted to take off his diaper and run around in the nude, so I put on his big boy undies to see what he would do.
Caelum working out with Mommy!
Kerrick sitting on the pot (I know he will be mad at me in a few years for this one!) He thinks it is the funniest thing to sit on the potty, but we try to do it several times a day to get him use to it for when he is ready to potty train??

TSgt Jason Wells!!!!!!!!!

WOOHOO....Jason is officially TSgt Wells!! He was able to sport his new stripe as of yesterday. I tried taking a picture last night after he got home, but he would not let me as his uniform was pretty muddy from crawling around on the ground at work!
But oh so proud of you Babe!!

Hopefully I will get a picture tonight!!

And so the story goes....

This week started off first thing like last week but could only and has gotten much better. Sunday, I took Kerrick to the urgent care because the previous 2 nights he was up most of the night crying which is totally not like him. So low and behold he had a flaming ear infection. Kerrick never shows the "normal" signs of ear infections, so when he gets them we have had no idea as he is not a complainer. So he is on antibiotics and doing much better with that and sleeping through the night. Then Monday morning started off with Kerrick chipping a few teeth and a big ol bruise on his chin. After he finished breakfast he stood up in his seat (in which we are constantly telling him to sit down) and was facing backwards in his chair. I was at the sink telling him to sit down as I was rinsing my hands and drying them (working my way over to him.) And as I was heading towards him the chair flipped backwards and he hit his chin on his table. It scared the you know what out of him and of course scared him and I am sure hurt like no other. So after some inspection and pressing on different parts of his head and face, I thought he was ok and saw nothing on initial inspection. So we continued on our morning and took him to school. That afternoon after he got home from school and Jason got home from work we noticed his two front teeth and one or two of his teeth on the bottom were chipped. I guess I did not notice it that morning as I was shaking from the scare for a while. Thankfully it has not affected his eating or anything. He already has his 6 month dental checkup for next Monday so we will see if the dentist sees anything else.
But other than an accident at school everyday (accidentally bumping heads with another kid and then another kid scratching him!) He is doing well! He is talking like crazy and literally is saying something new everyday!! Like they say, kids are sponges and it is amazing to watch that.
Caelum is hopefully on the road to recovery??? He has been congested as well all this week and gets into some coughing/choking frenzies with the mucous. Unfortunately, not much we can do for the little guy besides the good ol home remedies (elevate bed, humidifier, suctioning etc.) So we got Kerrick sleeping good and now Caelum sleeps one 4 hour stretch and is up every hour after that. So I have spent a few hours on our fabulous new mattress then downstairs we go to the couch and he sleeps on/off in the swing (trying to get him propped up more?) Hopefully he is starting to get better as he has not coughed as much today?? But time will tell....but this is definitely calling for a our first serious Mommy to Son talk - "you got one week to get your sleeping together!!" aka - I start back to work in 2 weeks :(
Anyhoo...Caelum is doing great despite the congestion. He of course is getting big, loves to talk and be talked to, loves to watch the pendulum on the coo coo clock, LOVES watching Kerrick and watch Kerrick and Jason playing together!
So we will keep you posted!!
Will try to get some pics up too later on this week!!
