Long Nite

This is a picture Caelum from last night at about 1100 in his new dubs....hospital gown!  Yep we had to make an ER visit last night with him.  It all seemed to start some on Sunday night when he was not himself at bedtime and making a cry that was not his usual whine or cry - like he hurt or something.  We just blew it off as it from being a long day as we went to visit Jason's family for the day as his Aunt Candy was in town from California!  Jason and I are in a class this week and next for our work (2 different classes) so I got out at noon on Monday and was able to run some errands and got some groceries, so as soon as I unloaded the car of groceries the boys school calls and says Caelum has been crying for 3 hours and not been himself with an unusual cry too all day.  No fevers or anything.  So I go get them both and called one the doctors I work for to see if they can check his ears.  So the boys and I head back to base to meet up with Jason and get my doc to peek in his ears.  All was clear and nothing (as a side note Caelum of course was laughing and being his usual self the whole way there!)  So no biggie....we left and carried on with the evening and Caelum was a little fussy but nothing way out of the norm for him.  We got up yesterday morning all was well, we all went to school.  I was in the deployment office giving immunizations and get a call from the school letting me know his temperature was 100.8.  That is not considered a fever and is usually not a concern but with Caelum's kidneys we have to take him in to make sure no UTI is brewing if his temperature gets over 100.4.  So I left, picked him up and he was still at 100.8.  He was in a good mood all day, just his temperature was up a little bit.  So I just gave Ibprofen and waited to see but usually we take him straight in but did not this time..  We carried on with the evening as usual, then when I went to get Caelum out of his swing (he was fighting sleep, so I just put him in his swing) he was burning up.  Checked his temp and it was a 102.4, a true fever, so off to the ER I head as Jason stayed behind with Kerrick so they could at least get some sleep.  After 2 attempts of an IV site (but at least a successful blood draw) and being cathed 2 times, he was diagnosed with just a virus.  Thankful it was not a UTI, as I was pretty sure it was not, but still have to go.  So he has been fever free today but a fussy little guy...rightfully so after all he went through last night!  Hopefully he will rest well tonight as I am running on 3 hours of sleep....the joys of parenthood!!
