For Gma!!

Tomorrow is definitely a bittersweet day.  This past Saturday night, my grandma (Dad's mom), passed away.  tomorrow I will fly back to GA for her services.  Definitely bitter as it is always hard to say bye, especially when I did not get to see her before she was so sick and Sweet as thankfully she is not suffering any more.  I am left with lots of memories of her from far back as I can remember in my 33 years of life!  here are a few...

- I can still hear her calling and saying My Michelle - she always called me that, even as an adult, I can hear her now the exact way as she always said it

- I have always and will always think of her and Fishead (aka my Grandpa - not sure how we gave him the name of Fishead - and to be honest I still want to call him that as an adult, but just call him Grandpa now) when I eat apple jelly, and only the apple jelly with the orange top - I don't remember the brand.  Everytime we spent the night, they always cooked us breakfast to include, eggs, bacon and toast with butter and none other than the apple jelly.  Growing up we only had grape jelly at home, so that was a treat

- I remember spending the night when my cousin, Jennifer was in town and we would go play beauty salon at Grandma's beauty table thing.  She used a spritz white rain hairspray and we would get her empty bottles and put water in it, but still smelled of white rain hairspray and we would put her curlers and all in our hair

-  I remember Grandma always gave Jennifer and I plastic jewelry and plastic dressup shoes that we would prance around her house in

- I remember the time we went for one of the holidays and Grandma cooked some salty, I mean really good cornbread stuffing...that was the talk of that year and probably a few years to come

- I remember what an awesome baker she was....she always brought us a homemade German Chocolate Cake, Turtles, Peanut Butter balls....the BEST!!!

- I remember walking to the gas station from their house and getting our "cigarrettes" (candy ones) from the store

- I remember going to Beaufort with them to stay and go to the beach and Grandma would always put her cotton balls in her ears so she would not get an ear infection.  And on one of these trips, I remember getting stung for the first time by a jellyfish.

- I remember riding in her car with her and she would have her dixie cup of water in the cup holder to put her cigarettes in after she finish smoking - HAHA!!  too funny!!

- I remember riding to Atlanta with her and Fishhead to visit my Aunt Ginny and Uncle Jimmy and cousin Jennifer and she would talk to the truckers on the ol CB Radio and thank them for honking there horns as we passed by each truck pumping our arms to get them to honk

-I remember as part of our birthday presents every year, she would wrap up a 6 pack of our favorite soda in brown bag paper - we were always so excited to get them

- I remember her and Fishead coming to our soccer games or band concert or whatever to support us

- I remember that every Sunday morning around 1000 or 1100, Grandma always called to see what was going on.  Dad and her would chat for a while, so Dad definitely gets his talking honestly from his Mom and I guess I have inherited it a bit too, as I am known by some at work at Chatty Cathy - but I just call it being friendly, but some of my coworkers think otherwise !  LOL!!

- I remember Grandma has always called Jason and I to just say hello no matter where we have been stationed and once the boys came along, she seemed so proud of them and always called to check on her boys

I know there are way more memories, but all that came to mind as I sat to type a quick blog for her!
We love you Gma and you will be missed, but we hope to see you again soon!!
