Kindergarten or Bust!!!

The day has FINALLY come!!  We have been counting down to this day for months....Kerrick going to Kindergarten.   He has been so excited about going and talks about going very often.  The closer we get the more excited he has gotten.  And I am not sure who has been more excited him or Caelum!  Caelum will say Kerrick is going to Kindergarten in X amount of days...then when I turn 4 I will go to Mr. Kenny's class and then when I turn 5 I will go to Ms. Elise class and then I will go to Kindergarten!!!  Too Funny!  The boys have acted like the Best of Friends the past 2 days and this morning Caelum was extra lovey to Kerrick and cheering him on!!

They both woke up to have The First Day of School Fairy visiting them both!! (Jason said - I don't think she was in business back in the day because I don't remember her!! - Well neither was Pinterest around then either - Ha!!)

Then I made them a "special" breakfast vs the fast breakfast we normally have during the week!

Caelum broken C!
Then off to school we headed.  Although after I dropped Caelum off, I thought I probably should have let him come with me to take Kerrick.  Kerrick asked if Caelum will be coming with me to pick him up, but I did not do that either....Kerrick really wanted him to come but said that after the fact!  So after dropping off Caelum they gave each other the biggest, sweetest hugs!!  Kerrick and I then headed to his school.  The car ride was awfully quiet, I think the "nervousness or whatever you want to call it, setin!  So we got into his room and put his things away and he was about tired of pictures by now!!  I went with him to his seat and he started playing with puzzles and off I went!

WooHoo!! Finally made it to this day!!
Funny they choose Chocolate Milk....that is a special treat for them!

Both looking all grown up!
Come on Caelum, let's hug!!
Such a Big Dude!!
Excited Dudes!
Getting ready to head in!
He was done with the pictures at this point!

I took the day off so I was able to pick him up from school and he had a big blue grin on with some Bear Ears!  I asked if he had fun and he said yes.  His blue smile was from cupcakes they had for one of his new friend, Lexi's, birthday.  I asked if he made new friends and I asked if he remembered their names....he said I only remember one, Lexi.  Of course a girl!!  LOL!!  He got to go on the playground ("but could not slide or swing as they were wet with puddles!") and they did a Bear Hunt (hence the bear ears!)  I gather the bear hunt was to show them around the school as he said they went to the library, the hospital and the music room looking for clues if a bear had been there!  But he had a blast and said his favorite part was "the whole day!!"  And as a side note...I have never seen so many people in Yoga and Sweat Pants, guess I am not hip to that Mom Thing!  HA!!

So after picking up Kerrick we headed to get Caelum and they hugged like no other when they saw each other.  After visiting his friends at daycare we went out for yogurt!  We shall see how Day 2 goes as he gets to ride the bus from Daycare to school!  He is very excited about it!!

Update on Caelum

Here is Superman himself today!!  And he truly was Superman at the doctor!!  Apologies ahead of time, as this post may be all over the place...but hopefully it makes some sense.
Today I took Caelum to his 1 year follow up with Urology and the Superman in him showed up!!  I have been eager for this appointment to get a "2nd opinion!"  Just did not get a warm fuzzy after our last appointment in Texas.  I guess I was just hoping he would be cleared and no more follow ups or anything and we did not get the your cleared sign.  So we set out today and headed to ol Dunn, NC (in the country aka, women with real country accents and teased hair amongst the cornfields!!)  We met Dr. Perry and briefly talked about Caelum's history and talked about his Ultrasound he had done a few weeks back.  He said his left kidney looks inflamed but may be normal for Caelum due to his surgery, but of course wants to run further test to make sure it is still functioning well.  And then see Caelum back in 2 weeks to discuss the test results and maybe refer to a Pediatric Urologist if needed.  Dr. Perry sees some Pediatric patients, but is not his specialty in Urology.  He said there is one Pediatric Urologist in Chapel Hill area that they refer their patients too.  But of course they try to "weed out" the patients as to not fill up the Pedi doctor with all these patients that really do not need to be seen. Which makes total sense!  He asked if we had ever had bloodwork to check his kidney function, so I said no. So naturally he wanted to get bloodwork drawn today.  And we are awaiting to hear back of when the other 2 test are scheduled for, but will most likely be this week or next week. The other 2 tests he has to get he had as an infant and were not pleasant so I can only imagine how they will be now that he is 3.  The first one is a VCUG...they have to cath him and then make him pee and take pictures of his bladder/kidney areas.  The second test is a nuclear test in which he has to get an IV and then lay on the table for 45-60 minutes, STILL, while it videos his kidney filling and emptying. I am hoping they can sedate him a little or if not I will have Benadryl on hand to give him.  I still remember the last time he had these test....Jason and I holding him down for the VCUG and 2 other nurses doing the spraying him to pee and taking the films.  And thankfully for the nuclear study he was so upset over the IV insertion, that he was wiped out and slept the whole time on the table.  So we shall see!!  But like I said he truly was Superman today...they had to draw his blood and he took it like a champ and did not even flinch or cry at all.  He sat in my lap and watched them the whole time they were poking and drawing the blood out!

So onto more exciting news......
I am not sure who is more excited about Kerrick going to Kindergarten...Kerrick or Caelum.  Caelum was praying last week that he was glad Kerrick did not have to go to Kindergarten yet.  And tonight he wants to pack his lunch for him!!  He was doing he happy Kindergarten dance for him before bed.  Too fun!!!
And to top off the day, Kerrick woke up with Pink Eye this morning, so he tagged along for Caelum's appointment then took him to his own appointment this afternoon.  I stayed and worked a few hours, so he was excited to get to be at my work for a "long" time!!  At least he drew me some pictures to decorate my desk with.
We will keep you updated on Caelum and have another post tomorrow, for Kerrick's BIG Day!!!

A Little Playground Action

Just wanted to share a few pictures from the playground yesterday.  We went to a "new" one on base before grocery shopping on Saturday.  It is always nice to get the day started by 0800 and have the playground all to ourselves!!

KIndergarten Here He Comes!!

Kerrick had his Physical for Kindergarten last week!  Long story short, he had a physical before we left Texas but the doctor here would not sign his form off for school since the Physical was not done here.  Oh well, but that is ok because he got to do all kinds of fun stuff and meet my coworkers as I work in the same building as Kerrick's doctor.  He did great and of course passed all the test (hearing, vision and all the lovely questions!)  So he is officially ready for Kindergarten!!  He has his first day outfit, new shoes and clothes and of course a new backpack and lunch bag filled with ALL the school and cleaning supplies!!  These supply list are ridiculous!!  We will go meet his teacher, Mrs. Young this Thursday!!  His teachers at his school now were raving about him when I picked him up this week about how good and well mannered he is...now if only he can spread 1/2 of that to Caelum!!  Caelum definitely keeps us on our toes to say the least!

Here are a few pictures from his Doctors Appt.  Kerrick was a BIG cube...43 lbs and 43 inches tall!!

School Summer Fling

Yesterday the boys school had a summer fling at school.  They had carnival games, food and demonstrations from programs that are coming to the school this fall!  The boys had a blast and was a very nice even the school put on for the families!  We are so thankful we found this school...as I was worried as we came from such a good school in Texas and afraid we could not find such here.  It is a brand new school that thankfully it opened it doors the week we moved in and the boys started attending a month later.
Here are a few pictures from the Summer Fling.

Caelum was the only brave one to ride...Kerrick wanted no part.  There was a pony that Caelum rode too, but not sure what happened to those pictures.

And of course the ol pig who tore up the grass to find some mud!
 Testing our fishing skills
Happy Feet Demo...so excited for this coming to the school!!

Kerrick and his best friend Tolu...Tolu is 8 and Kerrick talks about him all the time!!
A little brotherly competition of sack races!

And here is what we won...a HUGE cake!  We will be taking it back to school on Monday to share!  Can't have this in a beachbody/deployed spouse coming home in a few months house!! HA!!!
